Rule #1 Keep Your Hair Trimmed:

First, have all your split ends cut off.  Just because you want your hair to be instantly long doesn’t mean you should forgo your regular trims. Even short hair has split end damage. For shiny, long, hair, keep your hair trimmed every four to six weeks.
